I don’t know about you, but I love making little tokens of appreciation for my Farmer–especially for Valentines Day. And wouldn’t you know it, my homemade Valentines generally always have a farm theme–because farming isn’t just a day-job, it’s life.
So many of my Valentines to him over the years have had a farmer theme–although finding farmer Valentine inspiration is a bit hard to do.
Here are some Valentines I’ve made for the Farmer. Feel free to copy my ideas for your own farmer.
Rolling In The Hay
He’s so used to my quirks that he didn’t even flinch when he went out to feed the cows today and I handed him a bag and asked him to fill it with the best alfalfa we had. Toss in some Tootsie Rolls, and he’s a happy farmer.
Mint To Bee
This one was extra fun because it gave me an excuse to make a purchase from MadeOn who makes a lot of natural “Bee” products. These are the “Bee Cool” sore muscle rub, and “Bee Cool” hard lotion bars. Put them on top of a bucket of mints, and I think he’ll be pleased.
You’re The Sweetest ValenTWINE
Baling twine was too big, and I couldn’t find any red or pink anyway, so I’m using Twizzlers. I don’t think he’ll mind.
I Love You Honey
Again, working off the “bee” thing, I got this lovely Honey Oat soap from MadeOn. I should have made some, but I didn’t have time, so I was happy they had it in stock. Tied to some homemade craft paper.
Mine says “I Love You Honey” but you could alternately put down “I Was Soap’n You’d Be My Valentine” if you prefer a different kind of soap (maybe make my goat’s milk soap).
I Love You Deerly: These are adorable–found and printed them for free here. She does a good job, yes? Used some small craft twine to attach it to some homemade craft paper. Which color should I give him?
We made 2 new owl boxes for one of our fields this year. I only wish I’d found this one on Pinterest earlier. If I had enough talent, I could have pulled it off and left a homemade card on it that says, “You’re A Hoot.” Maybe for his birthday?
I love this Pinterest pillow idea! Maybe I’ll copy some of our vows on it for our anniversary? Make a his and hers? What do you think?
Are you handy with barbed wire? Shape a couple into the shape of some hearts, and hang them on one of your wire fences where he’s sure to see it.
I also thought about getting my Farmer a new shovel with a homemade “I Dig You” card.
In The Kitchen
Use a metal heart shaped cookie cutter in your pan to fry an egg in. Bonus points if you have different sized cookie cutters to do different sized eggs.
Instead of rolling your cinnamon rolls up in a circle to cut up this year, roll each end in toward the center, and make it one long heart roll. Slice as normal and serve heart shaped rolls.
Does your man like bacon? Shape a long strip into a heart and cook it this way. As it gets crispy, it will retain it’s shape.
What are you making for your farmer for Valentine’s Day this year?
